Southwest Monsoon to bring cloudy skies, isolated rains


The Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) is affecting the western sections of Central and Southern Luzon on Sunday, PAGASA said in its early morning forecast.

The monsoon and localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

Flash floods or landslides may occur during severe thunderstorms.

Coastal waters will be moderate to rough (up to 4-meter waves) in the northern and eastern sections of Northern Luzon.

The seas will be slight to moderate in Visayas and the rest of Luzon.

Sunrise will be at 5:44 a.m. while sunset will be at 6:04 p.m.

Meanwhile, Typhoon Kristine (international name: Haishen) exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Saturday night.

At 3 a.m., the eye of Haishen was located 1,140 km northeast of Extreme Northern Luzon.

Haishen has maximum sustained winds of 175 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 215 km/h.

It is moving northward at 20 km/h. —KG, GMA News
