Habagat, Typhoon Julian seen to cause rains over Ilocos region


Typhoon Julian and the southwest monsoon are expected to cause cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over the Ilocos region, Zambales and Bataan, PAGASA said on Monday afternoon.

In its 24-hour forecast, the weather bureau said the eye of Typhoon Julian was estimated 700 kilometers northeast of Basco, Batanes at 3 p.m. with maximum sustained winds of 155 kph the center and gustiness of up to 190 kph.

Julian is moving north northwesward at 35 kph.

Meanwhile, PAGASA said the southwest monsoon is affecting Central and Southern Luzon.

PAGASA warned of possible flash floods or landslides due scattered moderate to, at times, heavy rains.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country, on the other hand, may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to the southwest monsoon and localized thunderstorms.

Flash floods or landslides are also possible during severe thunderstorms.

Moreover, moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough coastal water conditions will prevail over northern and the rest of Luzon, while light to moderate winds and slight to moderate waters should be expected over Visayas and Mindanao. -NB, GMA News
