Igme exits the PAR; southwest monsoon affects north Luzon areas
Severe Tropical Storm Igme (international name Bavi) exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility late Saturday night, weather service PAGASA reported in an 11 p.m. Bulletin.
At 10 p.m. Igme was 585 kilometers north-northeast of the Batanes' Basco town, and outside the PAR, with 100 kilometer per hour sustained winds which can gust up to 125 kph.
Igme was headed north-northeast at 20 kph, and would be:
- 785 kms north-northeast of Basco by Sunday evening,
- 995 kms north-northeast of extreme northern Luzon by Monday evening, and
- 1,155 kms north-northeast of extreme northern Luzon by Tuesday evening.
While no Tropical Cyclone Wind Signals had been raised, a gale warning was in effect over the Batanes' seaboards.
Small seacraft were thus advised to take precautions when sailing over the northern and western seaboards of northern Luzon, where sea conditions would be moderate to rough.
Meanwhile, light to moderate with at times heavy rain could be expected over the Batanes and Babuyan Islands, as well as over the Ilocos Region, due to the southwest monsoon. — DVM, GMA News
