Tropical Storm Dindo moves west northwest as habagat brings rains over Luzon, Visayas
Tropical Storm Dindo, which is moving west northwest early on Sunday morning, is drawing the southwest monsoon (habagat) which will bring occasional rains over Luzon and Western Visayas, PAGASA said.
Flash floods or rain-induced landslides may occur during times of moderate or heavy rainfall.
The rest of the country meanwhile will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the easterlies. Flash floods or landslides may also occur during severe thunderstorms.
Dindo (international name: Hagupit) has no direct impact on the country as of posting time. It will remain far from the landmass of the country and may exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Monday morning.
As of 4 a.m., Dindo was located at 425 east northeast of Basco, Batanes. It has maximum sustained winds of 65 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph.
Dindo is moving west northwest at 20 km/h and is expected to intensify into a severe tropical storm in 24 hours.
Another tropical storm with international name Sinlaku is located to the west of the country, outside PAR. Like Dindo, it is also drawing the habagat toward the country.
A gale warning was raised over the seaboard of Northern Luzon and the western seaboards of Central and Southern Luzon. Coastal waters in these areas will be rough to very rough. Small seacraft are advised to take precautionary measures.
Meanwhile, in the rest of Luzon, coastal waters will be moderate to rough. In Visayas and Mindanao, the seas will be slight to moderate.
