Storm signals lifted as Carina moves away from Luzon
All tropical cyclone wind signals have been lifted as Tropical Depression Carina slowed down while continuing to move northwestward, PAGASA said on Tuesday afternoon.
In its 5 p.m. severe weather bulletin, the weather bureau said coastal areas in extreme Northern Luzon, however, may still experience intermittent gusts.
PAGASA said the center of Carina was seen 140 kilometers west northwest of Basco, Batanes at 4 p.m. with maximum winds of 45 km per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 55 km per hour.
Carina is moving northwestward slowly, it added.
PAGASA said Carina is forecasted to weaken into a low pressure area tonight or tomorrow morning.
Moderate to rough seas will also be experienced over the seaboards of Batanes, Ilocos Norte, Cagayan including Babuyan Islands and Isabela in the next 24 hours.
Those with small sea crafts are advised not to venture out to see, it added.
By Wednesday afternoon, Carina is expected 385 km north of Basco, Batanes. —LDF, GMA News
