Butchoy now a storm outside PAR, rains still seen over parts of Luzon
Butchoy, with international name Nuri, has intensified into a tropical storm and is now outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), PAGASA announced Friday evening.
According to the 11 p.m. severe weather bulletin, Butchoy was last estimated at 415 kilometers west northwest of Dagupan City, Pangasinan or 380 kilometers west of Sinait, Ilocos Sur.
It is moving northwestward with maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph.
The weather agency said that occasional gusts associated with the Southwest Monsoon may be experienced over most of Northern and Central Luzon as well as the western section of Southern Luzon and Visayas.
Heavy rainfall outlook
Between Friday night and Saturday morning, light to moderate rains with, at times, heavy rains may prevail over Zambales, Bataan, Pangasinan, the northern portion of Palawan, including Calamian and Cuyo Islands, and Occidental Mindoro.
PAGASA advised residents to take precautionary measures against flooding and rain-induced landslides.
Meanwhile, moderate to very rough seas is expected over the seaboards of Northern and Central Luzon, especially over the seaboards of Ilocos Region, Zambales and Bataan in the next 24 hours.
