Day’s highest heat index of 52°C recorded in Butuan City
A staggering 52°C heat index was recorded at PAGASA's synoptic station in Butuan City, the weather bureau said Thursday.
This is followed by the heat indexes recorded at the stations in Dagupan City and the Science City of Muñoz with 47°C and Sangley Point in Cavite City with 46°C.
The heat index is the temperature that a person feels. It measures "human discomfort" and is computed by factoring in the humidity as well as the air temperature.
Meanwhile, the stations in Ambulong in Tanauan City; Casiguran in Aurora; Davao City; NAIA in Pasay City; Roxas City; and Tuguegarao City all reported a heat index of 45°C.
PAGASA warned of possible heat cramps and heat exhaustion, which may lead to heat stroke amid continued physical activity.

The PAGASA station at the Science Garden, Quezon City reported a heat index of 42°C at 2 p.m.
A maximum temperature of 35.1°C was also recorded at 3 p.m.
