Ambo now an LPA; Signal No. 1 over Batanes lifted but rain still expected
Tropical Depression Ambo has weakened to a low pressure area (LPA) on Sunday afternoon, but rain and cloudy skies are still expected over Batanes, according to state weather bureau PAGASA.
In its 5 p.m. severe weather bulletin, PAGASA said that the LPA was last seen 125 kilometers northwest of Basco, Batanes, and that Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 over the province has been lifted.
However, light to moderate with at times heavy rains will prevail over Batanes until Sunday night.
The LPA is also expected to cast cloudy skies and rainshowers over Batanes within the next 24 hours.
Meanwhile, moderate to rough seas should be expected over Batanes and Babuyan Islands. The state weather bureau advised fisherfolk and those with small seacraft not to venture out to these areas.
Meanwhile, localized thunderstorms were forecast to bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.
PAGASA advised the public to prepare for possible flash floods or landslides.
The state weather bureau also said moderate to strong coastal water conditions should be expected in Northern Luzon, while slight to moderate conditions will prevail over the rest of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. — Julia Mari Ornedo/BM, GMA News
