Ambo slightly weakens as it nears Real, Infanta in Quezon


Severe Tropical Storm Ambo has slightly weakened as it approaches the Real-Infanta area in Northern Quezon, PAGASA announced Friday.

In a 5 p.m. severe weather bulletin, the weather agency said Ambo is forecast to make landfall over Real or Infanta in Northern Quezon between 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The center of Ambo was last estimated at 40 kilometers south of Infanta, Quezon with maximum sustained winds of 100 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 140 kph.

Meanwhile, Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) no. 2 is raised over:

  • Abra
  • Kalinga
  • Mountain Province
  • Ifugao

  • The eastern portion of Pangasinan  (San Nicolas, Natividad, San Quintin, Umingan, Balungao, Sta. Maria, Tayug, Asingan, San Manuel, Binalonan, Laoac, Urdaneta, Villasis, Rosales, Sto. Tomas, Alcala, Bautista, Bayambang, Urbiztondo, Basista, Malasiqui, Sta. Heavy rainfall outlook

From Friday afternoon until evening, Ambo may bring moderate to heavy with at times, intense rains over Quezon, Marinduque, Aurora, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Metro Manila, Bulacan, Pampanga, Nueva Ecija, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, and Quirino.

From Friday evening to Saturday night, it may bring moderate to heavy with at times, intense rains over the Cordillera Administrative Region, Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, Nueva Vizcaya, and Quirino.

PAGASA advised affected residents to take precautionary measures and coordinate with local authorities as flooding and rain-induced landslides may occur in susceptible areas.

Meanwhile, sea travel is risky over seaboards of areas under TCWS.
