What is the trough of the storm and why we need to be prepared
PAGASA on Monday afternoon said the trough of Tropical Depression Ambo is forecasted to bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over the Caraga and Davao Region.
In its 4 p.m. bulletin, the state weather bureau advised the public to prepare for possible flash floods or landslides due to scattered to moderate or occasionally heavy rains.
According to GMA’s resident meteorologist Nathaniel Cruz, a trough is an extension of tropical depression’s wind which brings rain showers.
“Malayo ‘yan sa gitna ng bagyo pero ‘yong ulan na dadalhin ng trough na ‘yan eh posibleng magdulot ng pagbaha at pagguho ng lupa dahil sa mga kung minsan malalakas na pag-ulan,” Cruz said.
Further, PAGASA said the center of Ambo was last seen 330 kilometers east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur with maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 70 kph.
PAGASA added that Ambo remains almost stationary.
The next severe weather bulletin will be issued at 11 p.m. —Ma. Angelica Garcia/LDF, GMA News
