Tail-end of cold front to bring moderate to heavy rains over parts of Luzon

The tail-end of a cold front will bring moderate to occasional heavy rains over Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Aurora, and Quezon on Friday, PAGASA said on Thursday.

In a 5 p.m. video update, PAGASA  advised residents of the affected areas to take precautionary measures as rains brought by the cold front may cause flash floods and landslides.

Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon is expected to bring light rains over Ilocos region and isolated light rains over the rest of Central Luzon.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers due to localized thunderstorms are expected over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

Gale warning are also raised over Batanes, Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Isabela, Aurora, Zambales, Bataan, Quezon including Polillo Islands, Camarines Norte, Northern and Eastern Coast of Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Western Coast of Palawan, and Occidental Mindoro.

The weather bureau cautioned against sea travel due to potentially rough sea conditions.

At 3 p.m. on Thursday, Tropical Storm Tisoy was last estimated at 730 kilometers west of Iba, Zambales.

It does not have any direct effect on the country and may weaken into a low pressure area (LPA) in 24 to 48 hours, according to PAGASA.

The other LPA being monitored by the weather bureau outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility is expected to dissipate in the following days. —Joahna Lei Casilao/LDF, GMA News
