MONDAY OR TUESDAY LANDFALL

Typhoon Tisoy enters PAR —PAGASA

Typhoon Tisoy (international name Kammuri) has entered the Philippine Area of  Responsibility on Saturday afternoon, according to PAGASA.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal Number 1 may be raised over the rest of Northern Samar, Samar, Catanduanes, and Sorsogon in the next bulletin, and disruption of maritime travel may be experienced over these areas, the state weather bureau said.

As of 5 p.m., Quezon and Rizal provinces will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains. Metro Manila will, meanwhile, have partly cloudy skies.

Moderate to strong winds coming from the northeast will prevail over these areas and the coastal waters will be moderate to high.

Typhoon Tisoy is forecast to make landfall over the Bicol Region between Monday afternoon and Tuesday early morning.

There will be occasional to frequent heavy rains over the Bicol Region, Samar provinces, and Biliran and moderate to occasional heavy rains over Romblon, Marinduque, and Quezon on Monday.

While on Tuesday, frequent to continuous heavy rains will be experienced over Metro Manila, Bicol Region, CALABARZON, Mindoro provinces, Marinduque, Romblon, Zambales, Bataan, Pampanga, and Bulacan. Moderate to occasional heavy rains will be experienced over the rest of Luzon.

Residents in the aforementioned areas, especially those living in areas identified to be highly or very highly susceptible to flooding and rain-induced landslides, are advised to take appropriate actions and to coordinate with local disaster risk reduction and management offices.

Sea travel will be risky, especially for small sea crafts, over the seaboards of areas under TCWS, the northern and western seaboards of Northern Luzon and the eastern seaboards of the country due to prevailing or forecast rough sea conditions.

As of 4 p.m. on Saturday, the eye of Typhoon "Tisoy" was located based on all available data at 1,165 km east of Virac, Catanduanes.

It is moving west-southwest at 15 kph, with maximum sustained winds of 150 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 185 kph. — MDM, GMA News
