Frequent heavy rains in northeast provinces due to Ramon, Sarah

Fifteen areas in northern Cagayan have been placed under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 3 after Typhoon Ramon began moving southwest from its previous near-stationary state.

Tropical Depression Sarah, on the other hand, maintains its strength and continues to move northwestward, according to the Severe Weather Bulletin issued about 11 p.m.

As of 10 p.m., the center of Ramon was last seen 100 kilometers east northeast of Aparri, Cagayan or 45 kilometers northeast of Santa Ana, Cagayan, packing winds of up to 120 kph and gustiness of up to 150 kph and slowly moving in the southwest direction.

PAGASA forecast moderate with occasional to frequent heavy rains for Wednesday over Batanes, Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, and Apayao, while light to moderate with intermittent heavy rains will prevail over Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Abra, Mt. Province, Kalinga, and the northern portion of Isabela.

TYPHOON SIGNALS

Signal No. 3 was raised over the following municipalities in northern Cagayan:

Santa Praxedes, Claveria, Sanchez Mira, Pamplona, Abulug, Ballesteros, Aparri, Calayan, Camalaniugan, Buguey, Santa Teresita, Gonzaga, Santa Ana, Allacapan, Lal-lo

Signal No. 2 was hoisted over:

  • Batanes
  • Apayao
  • Kalinga
  • Abra
  • Ilocos Norte
  • Ilocos Sur
  • The rest of Cagayan

PAGASA warned residents of areas under Signals No. 3 and 2 to anticipate possible coastal flooding due to high waves.

The following areas are under Signal No. 1:

  • Northern portion of Isabela (Sta. Maria, San Pablo, Maconacon, Cabagan, Sto. Tomas, Quezon, Delfin Albano, Tumauini, Divilacan, Quirino, Roxas, Mallig, San Manuel, Burgos, Gamu and Ilagan City)
  • Mountain Province
  • Benguet
  • Ifugao
  • La Union
  • Pangasinan

By Wednesday evening, Ramon is expected to be over Iba, Zambales then exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Thursday evening.

TROPICAL DEPRESSION SARAH

Tropical Depression Sarah was last seen 570 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes packing winds of up to 55 kph and gustiness of up to 70 kph and moving in the northwest direction at a speed of 35 kph.

Rainfall outlook for Wednesday afternoon is light to moderate with intermittent heavy rains may be experienced over eastern portions of Cagayan and Isabela.

For Thursday, there will be moderate with frequent heavy rains over Batanes, Cagayan and northern Isabela and Ilocos Norte. Light to moderate with intermittent heavy rains may prevail over northern portion of Aurora, Apayao, Kalinga, Abra and the rest of Isabela and Ilocos Norte.
