Most of Luzon to have monsoon rains

The Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) will bring heavy and continuous monsoon rains to most of Luzon on Saturday, PAGASA said in its early morning weather forecast.

The monsoon rains will affect the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, Metro Manila, CALABARZON, Batanes and the Babuyan Group of Islands.

The rest of Luzon which includes the Bicol Region and MIMAROPA meanwhile will have cloudy with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms.

Visayas and Mindanao will be partly cloudy to cloudy, with localized thunderstorms possibly occurring in the afternoon or evening.

PAGASA said no weather disturbance is inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

Typhoon Lekima (known in the Philippines as Hanna) has made landfall on the eastern side of China near Shanghai and has weakened.

Typhoon Krosa is stationary at 2,025 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes.

Both typhoons have no effect on the country, PAGASA said.

Lekima, however, is enhancing the Habagat affecting the country.

A gale warning has been raised over the seaboards of Luzon and Visayas, and the northern and eastern seaboards of Mindanao.

Seas will be rough to very rough in western northern Luzon, with waves ranging from 3 to 6 meters tall.

For the rest of Luzon, Visayas, and northern and eastern Mindanao, waves will be 3 to 4 meters tall.

Small seacraft are prohibited from sailing.
