Hanna develops into a typhoon; Batanes, Babuyan still under Signal No. 1

Severe Tropical Storm Hanna has intensified into a typhoon on Wednesday morning, according to weather bureau PAGASA.

Batanes and Babuyan Group of Islands remain under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1.

The eye of Typhoon Hanna was located at 5 a.m. at 625 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes.

Hanna had maximum sustained winds of 120 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 150 kph.

The typhoon is moving west northwest at 10 kph.

Based on the latest track of PAGASA, there is a low possibility of Typhoon Hanna making landfall.

Hanna is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Friday. —KG, GMA News
