TD Dodong slightly slows down as it moves northeastward

Tropical Depression Dodong has slightly slowed down as it takes the northeast direction on Tuesday night, according to PAGASA.

The state weather bureau said the center of Dodong was spotted 655 kilometers east of Calayan, Cagayan as of 10 p.m. and is moving at the speed of 15 kilometers per hour.

It has maximum sustained winds of up to 45 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 60 kilometers per hour.

"TD Dodong is not expected to make landfall and has no direct impact on any part of the country," PAGASA said.

The Southwest Monsoon or Habagat, however, is expected to bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over the western sections of Luzon and Visayas until Wednesday.

Monsoon rains may also be experienced in Metro Manila, Western Visayas and the western sections of Central Luzon, CALABARZON and MIMAROPA on Thursday, according to PAGASA. — BAP, GMA News
