TD Dodong won't make landfall; southwest monsoon to bring rains in Luzon, Visayas —PAGASA


Tropical Depression Dodong is not expected to make a landfall and will have no direct impact on any part of the country, according to the 5 p.m. bulletin issued by weather bureau PAGASA.

Scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over the western section of Luzon and Visayas Tuesday night and Wednesday will be brought by the southwest monsoon.

On Thursday, PAGASA said monsoon rains may prevail over Metro Manila, Western Visayas and the Western sections of Central Luzon, CALABARZON and MIMAROPA.

PAGASA warned that residents in these areas, especially those living in areas identified to be at high risk of flooding and landslides, are advised to continue monitoring for updates, take precautionary measures and coordinate with local disaster risk reduction and management offices.

As of 4 p.m. Tuesday, the center of TD Dodong was  estimated at 615 km East Northeast of Aparri, Cagayan or 615 km East of Calayan, Cagayan.

Dodong has maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometer per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 65 kph.  It is moving northeast at 25 kph.
