Tropical Depression Chedeng slows down, nears Davao Occidental
Tropical Depression Chedeng slightly slows down as it moves closer to Davao Occidental, PAGASA reported in its Severe Weather Bulletin No. 10.
Chedeng is expected to make landfall over the eastern coast of Davao Occidental between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. on Tuesday then weaken into a Low Pressure Area.
As of 4 a.m., the center of Tropical Depression Chedeng was estimated at 105 kilometers east of General Santos City with maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 60 kph and moving west southwest at 15 kph.
Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 1 remains over Davao Oriental, Compostela Valley, Davao del Sur, Davao City, General Santos City, Davao Occidental, southern portion of Davao del Norte including Samal Island, eastern portion of North Cotabato, eastern portion of South Cotabato, eastern portion of Sarangani, and eastern portion of Sultan Kudarat.
On Tuesday, scattered to at times widespread moderate to heavy rains may be experienced over Surigao del Sur, Agusan del Sur, Davao Region, SOCCSKSARGEN, and portions of Northern Mindanao, Bangsamoro and Zamboanga Peninsula.
The disaster risk reduction and management offices concerned and residents of the aforementioned areas, especially those living in areas identified to be at high risk of flooding or landslide, are advised to undertake appropriate actions and continue monitoring for updates, including the Heavy Rainfall Warnings and Thunderstorm Advisories issued by PAGASA Regional Services Divisions.
Owners of small seacrafts are advised not to venture out over the eastern seaboards of Visayas and Mindanao, as well as the seaboards of areas under TCWS. — BAP, GMA News
