Amang slows down as it heads for Eastern Samar
Tropical depression Amang slightly slowed down as it continues to pose threat over the eastern seaboard of Eastern Samar, according to the 5 p.m. weather bulletin of PAGASA.
The weather bureau said Amang is still moving towards north at 10 kilometers per hour, with maximum sustained winds of 45 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 60 kph.
At 4 p.m., the center of tropical depression was estimated based on all available data at 105 km East of Catarman, Northern Samar (12.5 °N, 125.6 °E ).
The provinces under Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 1 are the following:
Luzon
- Sorsogon and Masbate including Ticao Island
Visayas
- Northern Samar
- Eastern Samar
- Samar
- Biliran
- Leyte
PAGASA said that light to moderate rains are expected over Catanduanes, Camarines Sur, Albay, Sorsogon and Northern Samar Monday tonight. However, it warned these areas may still experience periods of heavy rainfall.
Residents in these areas, especially those living in areas at high risk of flooding and landslides, are advised to take appropriate actions, coordinate with local disaster risk reduction and management offices, and continue monitoring for updates, the state weather bureau said.
Amang is expected to weaken into a Low Pressure Area (LPA) in the next 12 hours. —LDF, GMA News
