7 areas still under Signal 1 as Amang tracks northward direction over Eastern Samar
Seven areas remained under Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal (TCWS) No. 1 as Tropical Depression Amang continues to move northward over the eastern seaboard of Eastern Samar, according to PAGASA on Monday afternoon.
The provinces under TCWS No. 1 are the following:
- Sorsogon
- Masbate including Ticao Island
- Northern Samar
- Eastern Samar
- Samar
- Biliran
- Leyte
At 1 p.m., PAGASA located Amang at 80 kilometers north northeast of Borongan City, Eastern Samar, or 120 kilometers east of Catarman, Northern Samar, packing maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 60 kilometers per hour.
PAGASA said Amang is moving towards north at 15 kilometers per hour.
The weather bureau warned of moderate to heavy rains in the provinces of Sorsogon, Albay, Catanduanes, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar and Samar.
PAGASA also said moderate to heavy rains would prevail in Eastern Visayas, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon and Masbate on Tuesday.
PAGASA advised residents of the mentioned areas to take precautionary actions against possible floods and landslides.
Fisherfolks and those with small seacrafts are warned not to venture out over the seaboards of Northern Luzon and the eastern seaboards of Central Luzon, Southern Luzon, Visayas, Dinagat Islands and Surigao del Norte, including all seaboards of areas under TCWS No. 1 due to Amang and the surge of Northeast Monsoon. —Anna Felicia Bajo/KBK, GMA News
