Monsoon rains to affect N. Luzon as Typhoon Man-yi maintains strength
Typhoon Man-yi, which is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) over the weekend, maintained its strength and speed on Friday afternoon.
According to PAGASA's advisory, Man-yi was spotted 1,145 kilometers east of central Luzon as of 3 p.m., packing winds moving 145 kph near the center with gustiness of up to 180 kph.
The typhoon is expected to continue on a northwest path at 25 kph and enter PAR as "Tomas" by Saturday morning. I
For the meantime, PAGASA expects the northeast monsoon to affect weather in parts of northern Luzon.
Based on the weather bureau's 24-hour forecast, the monsoon could bring light rains to Cagayan Valley, as well as isolated rains over the Ilocos region and the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).
The rest of the country, on the other hand, may experience isolated rainshowers due to localized thunderstorms. — Margaret Claire Layug/MDM, GMA News
