Tropical Storm Trami has intensified into a typhoon before noon Sunday and is posed to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility, PAGASA said in its 11 a.m. bulletin.

Once it enters PAR on Sunday afternoon, it will be called Paeng.

Typhoon Paeng's effects will be felt in Batanes and Babuyan Group of Islands in extreme Northern Luzon on Friday.

It is not forecast to enhance the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat).

As of 8 a.m., Trami's eye was located at 1,260 kilometers east of Central Luzon.

Trami had maximum sustained winds of 120 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 145 kph.

The typhoon was moving west northwest at 25 kph.

By Monday morning, Trami, by then called Paeng, will be positioned 1,050 km east of Tuguegarao City in Cagayan.
