Tropical Storm Karding (Yagi) moves toward China, enhances Habagat
Tropical Storm Karding (international name "Yagi") is on its way to southeastern China but continues to enhance the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) in the Philippines, PAGASA said in its 11 a.m. bulletin.
This means scattered to widespread rains will be felt across the western sections of Luzon.
Moderate to heavy rains will pour over Metro Manila, Rizal, Cavite, Zambales, Bataan, Bulacan, Pampanga, Ilocos Region, and the Cordillera Administrative Region until Monday, August 13.
Residents were advised to take the necessary precautions against possible flooding and landslides.
Sea travel is still risky over the northern and western seaboards of Luzon.
As of 10 a.m. Sunday, Karding was spotted at 600 km north northeast of Extreme Northern Luzon, which is outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
It has maximum sustained winds of 75 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph.
Karding is moving slowly westward at 15 kph.
Tropical Storm Leepi
PAGASA is also monitoring Tropical Storm Leepi which was located as of 10 a.m. at 2,135 kilometers east of Extreme Northern Luzon.
It has accelerated slightly and has maximum sustained winds of 80 kph near the center with gustiness of up to 90 kph.
Leepi is moving north northwest at 20 kph.
PAGASA said Leepi is too far away to have any effect on the Philippines. —KG, GMA News
