RAIN EXPECTED OVER LUZON AREAS

TS Karding to exit the PAR on Saturday

Tropical Storm Karding maintained its course and strength, even as this storm and a tropical depression outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility were predicted to enhance the southwest monsoon, PAGASA reported in a a Friday night bulletin.

At 10 p.m., Karding was 1,075 kilometers east-northeast of Basco, Batanes, with 75 kilometer per hour sustained winds and gusts of up to  90 kph.

Karding was slowly making its way northward, and would likely exit the PAR sometime on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the tropical depression outside the PAR was  1,065 kms west of extreme northern Luzon.

The tropical depression had 55 kph sustained winds which could gust up to 75 kph.

Enhanced by both Karding and the tropical depression, the southwest monsoon would bring scattered to widespread moderate to heavy rain over the Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and the western section of Central Luzon.

The monsoon would also be responsible for the scattered light to moderate, with at times heavy rain, over Metro Manila, the Mindoro Provinces, the Calabarzon Region, and the rest of the Cagayan Valley and Central Luzon Regions.

PAGASA also warned that the weather systems made sea travel risky over the western seaboard of Luzon. — DVM, GMA News
