Tropical Storm Inday slightly intensifies

Tropical Storm Inday has slightly intensified as it continues to move in the north northeast direction over the Philippine Sea, PAGASA reported in its Severe Weather Bulletin issued late Thursday evening.

As of 10 p.m. on Thursday, Inday was estimate at 1,055 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes with sustained winds of 80 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 95 kph.

The state weather bureau did not place any city or province under Tropical Cyclone Warning.

Inday is moving in the north northeastward direction at 15 kph and is estimate to be out of the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) or 880 kilometers east northeast of Basco, Batanes by Saturday evening.

The southwest monsoon or habagat is enhanced by Tropical Storm Inday, and the weather systems are expected to bring intermittent moderate to heavy monsoon rains over Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Zambales and Bataan, and scattered light to moderate with at times heavy rains over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon until Saturday.

PAGASA warned residents of the affected areas, especially those living in low-lying and mountainous areas are advised to take appropriate actions against possible flooding and landslide, coordinate with local disaster risk reduction and management offices, and continue monitoring for updates.
