Domeng gains strength, maintains speed and direction


Tropical Depression Domeng was estimated 470 kilometers east of Casiguran in Aurora, early Friday morning, PAGASA reported in its early morning forecast.

Domeng packs maximum sustained winds of 60 kilometers per hour bear the center and gustiness of up to 75 kph and is forecast to move northward with speed of up to 15 kph.

The state weather bureau also reported that the monsoon trough will be affecting Luzon and Visayas.

Calabarzon, Mimaropa, the Bicol Region, western Visayas and the provinces of Aurora, Bataan and Zambales will have monsoon rains brought about by Domeng, the monsoon trough and the southwest monsoon.

Residents in these areas are warned against possible flooding or landslides due to moderate to occasional heavy rains.

The rest of Luzon and the Visayas will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and isolated thunderstorms due to the monsoon trough and the southwest monsoon. The state weather bureau warns residents of possible flooding in low lying areas.

Mindanao, meanwhile, will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers due to localized thunderstorms.

Coastal water conditions in the eastern section of southern Luzon and the Visayas will be rough to moderate while in the Cagayan Valley Region and the rest of the country waters will be moderate to rough.

PAGASA continues to monitor Tropical Storm Ewiniar, which was located 1,030 kilometers west northwest of Basco, Batanes with maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 110kph.

Ewiniar is moving in the north northeast direction at 5 kph. — BAP, GMA News
