Domeng maintains strength, now moving northward
The combined effects of Tropical Depression Domeng and the monsoon trough will bring moderate to occasional heavy rains over southern Luzon and western Visayas, PAGASA reported in its late evening Severe Weather Bulletin.
As of 10 p.m., Domeng was estimated at 460 kilometers east of Casiguran, Aurora with maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 65 kph.
The Tropical Depression is forecast to move northward at a speed of 15 kph and is expected to be outside Philippine Area of Responsibility on Sunday evening.
Domeng is expected to enhance the southwest monsoon or habagat, which may bring rains over the western sections of Luzon and Visayas on Friday.
The state weather bureau advises residents in the affected areas to take appropriate actions against possible flashfloods and landslides and coordinate with their respective Disaster Risk Reduction and Management offices.
Meanwhile, sea travel is risky over the eastern seaboard of central and southern Luzon and of Visayas, and the western seaboard of southern Luzon.
There are no Tropical Cyclone warning signals raised.
The public and the disaster risk reduction and management offices concerned are advised to take appropriate actions and watch for the next update. — BAP, GMA News
