Domeng maintains strength, to bring weekend rains in Metro Manila, western Visayas

Tropical Depression Domeng has maintained its strength as it continues to move in a northwest track, according to state weather bureau PAGASA on Tuesday afternoon.

In its 4 p.m. weather bulletin, PAGASA spotted Domeng 690 kilometers east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar, packing maximum sustained winds of 45 km per hour and gustiness of up to 60 km per hour.

Domeng was moving in a north northwest direction at 14 km per hour.

PAGASA said Domeng is not expected to make any landfall.

Given the scenario, no tropical cyclone warning signals (TCWS) is expected to be raised in any part of the country, according to PAGASA.

However, PAGASA warned of moderate to heavy rains over the western sections of Visayas and Luzon, including Metro Manila, over the weekened as Domeng is expected to trigger southwest monsoon or habagat.

Domeng is expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Sunday morning, PAGASA said. — MDM, GMA News
