Northeast monsoon, localized thunderstorms to bring cloudy skies to PHL
The northeast monsoon and some localized thunderstorms will affect the country over Friday evening, according to weather bureau PAGASA.
In its 5 p.m. weather update, PAGASA said partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains would prevail over the Ilocos region, Cagayan Valley, and Cordillera due to the northeast monsoon.
Localized thunderstorms will bring isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms with partly cloudy to cloudy skies in the rest of the country.
Due to the lingering effects from Tropical Cyclone Ramil, which intensified into a severe tropical storm as it exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility, Palawan will experience moderate to strong winds heading southeast.
The rest of Luzon can expect moderate to strong winds headed northeast, while Visayas and Mindanao will have light to moderate winds from northeast to north.
Gale force winds will generate 2.5 to 4.5 meter tall waves in the northern and western seaboards of northern Luzon, including Batanes, Calayan, Babuyan, Northern coast of Cagayan, and Ilocos Provinces.
Larger sea vessels were alerted against the waves while smaller fishing vessels and other seacrafts were advised to remain ashore. — Rie Takumi/MDM, GMA News
