Ramil slightly intensifies; Signal No. 1 still up in 2 areas

Tropical Depression Ramil has slightly intensified and is now spotted in the vicinity of the Calamian Group of Islands, state weather bureau PAGASA said on Wednesday afternoon.

In its 5 p.m. weather bulletin, PAGASA located the eye of Ramil at 25 kilometers South of Coron, Palawan packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 75 kilometers per hour.

PAGASA said Ramil has continued to move west at 18 kilometers per hour.

Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal (TCWS) No. 1 remains in northern Palawan including Calamian Group of Islands and Southern Occidental Mindoro.

PAGASA warned residents in areas under TCWS No. 1 as well as over Central Luzon, Cagayan Valley Region and the northern portion of Quezon including Polillo island to be alert for possible landslides and flashfloods.

Light to moderate with possible occasional heavy rains during thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon is also expected, PAGASA added.

Sea travel also remained "risky" over areas under TCWS No. 1 as well as the northern and eastern seaboard of Luzon.

RAMIL is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) tomorrow evening or Friday early morning. — Anna Felicia Bajo/RSJ, GMA News
