Severe Tropical Storm Paolo slightly intensifies


Severe Tropical Storm Paolo slightly intensified as it continues to move over the Philippine Sea, PAGASA reported in its Severe Weather Bulletin on late Tuesday evening.

The center of the storm was estimate at 675 kilometers east northeast of hinatuan, Surigao del Sur with maximum sustained winds of 105 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 130 kph.

Paolo s forecast to move north northeast at 15 kph and will be outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Sunday evening at 1,300 kilometers northeast of Basco, Batanes.

The state weather bureau has not issued tropical cyclone warning signals in affected areas.

Paolo, however, may intensify into a Typhoon in the next 24 to 36 hours.

The outer rainbands of the Severe Tropical Storm may bring scattered light to moderate with possible occasional heavy rains over Bicol Region, Visayas and Mindanao.

A Low Pressure Area (LPA) was estimated at 200 km West Northwest of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan late Tuesday evening, which will bring scattered light to moderate with possible occasional heavy rains over Palawan.

Moderate to rough seas expected over the eastern seaboard of Southern Luzon, of Visayas and of Mindanao. — BAP, GMA News
