LPA to enter PAR, possibly first cyclone of February

State weather forecasters said they are currently monitoring the development of a potential cyclone just outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on as of Thursday noon.

The cyclone, located some thousand kilometers east of Mindanao near the island nation of Palau, may strenghten into a cyclone in the coming days. If so, it will be named "Bising"—the second cyclone to develop in the PAR this year and the first for the month of February.

The cyclone is expected to bring rains to Mindanao and Visayas by this weekend, according to Metraweather forecasts.

Meanwhile, according to resident meteorologist Nathaniel "Mang Tani" Cruz, some parts of Mindanao are experiencing rains this Thursday due to a trough extending from the LPA.

CARAGA and Davao, in particular, may expect occasional thunderstorms through the day.

Meanwhile, the northern Luzon is under the influence of the Amihan northeast monsoon, which is bringing rains to Cagayan Valley, the Cordilleras, Aurora and Quezon.
