LPA develops into tropical depression, now named Enteng


The low pressure area spotted northeast of Itbayat, Batanes became stronger and is now a tropical depression codenamed "Enteng," PAGASA said Thursday.

Rainfall is estimated to be moderate to heavy within the 200-kilometer diameter of the weather disturbance.

No tropical cyclone warning signals have been raised yet, PAGASA said in its 9 a.m. bulletin.

As of 8 a.m. Thursday, Enteng's center was estimated to be at 695 km east northeast of Itbayat, Batanes. 

It has maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center.

Enteng is expected to move northeast at 18 kph.

By Friday  morning, Enteng is estimated to be at 1,090 km northeast of Itbayat, Batanes.

By Saturday morning, Enteng is forecast to be 1,250 km northeast of Itbayat, which is outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

PAGASA advised the public and disaster risk reduction and management councils concerned to take appropriate actions and await the agency's next bulletin at 11 a.m. Thursday. —KG, GMA News
