Typhoon Dindo has maintained its strength as it continues to move away from the Philippines, state weather bureau PAGASA said Saturday afternoon.

In its 5 p.m. bulletin, PAGASA said Dindo's center was estimated at 1,315 kilometers east northeast of Itbayat, Batanes as of 4 p.m.

It has maintained its strength, packing maximum sustained winds of 160 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 195 kph.

It was moving east northeast at 15 kph.

The typhoon is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Sunday morning.

PAGASA said the typhoon will affect the southwest monsoon.

It said monsoon rains will be experienced in Metro Manila, Ilocos region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, Calabarzon and Palawan province.

The weather bureau added that the rest of Luzon will experience light to moderate rains and thunderstorms.

The other parts of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains or thunderstorm, it added. —ALG, GMA News
