PAGASA: Typhoon Dindo enters PAR


Typhoon Dindo (international name: Lionrock) has entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Wednesday.

In its 1:00 p.m. update, PAGASA said the eye of Typhoon Dindo was located 1,200 kilometers east northeast of Itbayat, Batanes (24.9°N, 132.5°E).

PAGASA will continue to monitor the typhoon's movement within the PAR. However, forecasts from PAGASA and all international weather agencies are in agreement that Dindo will not approach the Philippines.

 


PAGASA said there are no tropical warning signals as of posting time.

PAGASA said the typhoon is expected to bring moderate to heavy amount of rainfall within the 500 kilometer diameter of the weather disturbance.

Typhoon Dindo is said to have maximum sustained winds of 130 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 160 kph.

The typhoon is forecast to move south southwest at 7 kph.

The location of the typhoon is expected to be :

  • Thursday: 1,175 km east northeast of Itbayat, Batanes;
  • Friday noon: 1,160 km east northeast of Itbayat, Batanes;  
  • Saturday noon: 1,145 km east northeast of Itbayat, Batanes;
  • Sunday noon: 1,140 km East Northeast of Itbayat, Batanes, and
  • Monday noon: 1,180 km East Northeast of Itbayat, Batanes.

However, the weather bureau said, "The public and the disaster risk reduction and management council concerned are advised to take appropriate actions and watch for the next weather bulletin to be issued at 11 p.m. today (Wednesday)." — VVP/TJD, GMA News
