Tropical storm enters PAR Wednesday afternoon, named "Lando"

PAGASA officially announced the entry into the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) of Tropical Storm Koppu early Wednesday afternoon. The cyclone, which has been given the local codename "Lando" is seen in the above satellite image taken by the Japan Meteorological Agency's Himawari satellite at 2:20 p.m. Philippine Time.

State weather forecasters at PAGASA said that Koppu officially crossed into the PAR at 2 p.m., when it was spotted 1,440 km east of Luzon.
