LIST: Flood-prone areas near major rivers systems, according to PAGASA
PAGASA issued General Flood Advisories over seven regions as Typhoon Ruby (Hagupit) makes it way to Eastern Visayas.
The agency identified the watercourses in Central Luzon and Bicol in Luzon, Central Visayas and Eastern Visayas in the Visayas, and Northern Mindanao, Davao and CARAGA in Mindanao that are likely to be affected by the stormy weather.
For these advisories, PAGASA recommended residents living near the mountained slopes and in the low lying areas of the identified river systems as well as the local disaster risk reduction and management council to be alert for possible landslides and flashfloods.
Luzon
Aurora rivers and its tributaries like Casiguran, Aguang, and Lower Umiray in Central Luzon are likely to be affected by the upcoming typhoon, PAGASA said on its advisory issued at 9 a.m. today.
For the Bicol Region where moderate to heavy rainfall is expected, the watercourses that are likely to be affected as of the advisory issued on December 4, 6 p.m. are:
-Albay rivers and its tributaries Guinale and Upper Donsol.
-Camarines Norte rivers and its tributaries Labo and Daet Basud.
-Camarines Sur rivers and its tributaries lower Kilbay-Catabangan, Ragay, Tinalmud, Tambang, and Lagonoy.
-Sorsogon rivers and its tributaries Lower Donsol, Ogod, Putiao, Cadacan, Banuang-Duan, Fabrica (Tugbugan), and Matnog.
-Catanduanes Rivers and its tributaries Cabuyan, Bato, and Pajo.
-Masbate rivers and its tributaries Lanang, Mapayawan, Mandaong, Asid, Malbag, Guiom, Nainday, Daraga, Nauco (Aguada), and Beleno.
Visayas
The advisory issued on December 4, 6 p.m., said these are the watercourses expected to be affected in Central Visayas:
-Negros Oriental rivers and its tributraries particularly Libertad, Tanjay, Candugay, Siaton, Cauitan, Sipocong, Bayawan, Pagatban, and Lower Tyabanan.
-Cebu rivers and its tributraries particularly Kotkot, Mananga, Guinabasan, Balamban, and Sapang Dako.
-Bohol rivers and its tributraries particularly Inabanga, Ipil, Matulid, Loboc, and Abatan.
In Eastern Visayas where Typhoon Ruby is expected to landfall on Saturday evening, the following waterways will be likely affected by moderate to heavy rains, said the advisory issued on December 4 at 6 p.m.:
-Northern Samar rivers and its tributaries particularly Catubig, Pambukhan, Catarman, Mano, Palapag, Gamay, and Bugko.
-Eastern Samar rivers and its tributaries particularly Ulot, Dolores, Suribao, Oras, Llorento, Taft, Borongan, and Balangiga.
-Samar rivers and its tributaries particularly Basey, Silaga, Calbiga, and Jibatan.
-Leyte rivers and its tributaries particularly Sangputan, Palo, Salano, Dagutan-Marabang, Cadacan, Bongquirogan, Salug, Pagbangaran, and Pagsangahan.
-Southern Leyte rivers and its tributaries particularly Bisay, Himbangan, and Pandan.
-Biliran rivers and its tributaries.
Mindanao
Three regions in Mindanao are also advised to be alert on flashfloods and landslides early evening yesterday.
-Misamis Occidental rivers and its tributaries particularly Clarin, Palilan, and Aloran.
-Misamis Oriental rivers and its tributaries particularly Odiongan, Lower Tagaloan, Lower and Middle Western Cagayan, Iponon, Gingoog, Balatocan, and Cabulig.
-Bukidnon Rivers and its tributaries particularly Upper Tagaloan, and Upper Eastern Cagayan.
-Lanao del Norte rivers and its tributaries particularly Mandulog, Agus, Liangan, and Maranding.
-Davao del Norte rivers and its tributaries particularly Tagumlibuganon, Saug, Tuganay and Lasang.
-Davao Oriental rivers and its tributaries particularly Catul, Dapras, Mahaneb, Manurigao, Caraga, Sumlog, Casaunan, Guinonoan, Bugnan-Mayo, Bitanayan and Banganga-Mahaneb.
-Compostela Valley rivers and its tributaries particularly Hijo and Matibo.
Davao del Sur rivers and its tributaries particularly Davao, Padada-Mainit, Lipadas, Tagulaya-Sibulan, Digos, Mainit, and Talomo.
-Surigao del Norte rivers and its tributaries particularly Surigao and Magallanes.
-Surigao del Sur rivers and its tributaries particularly Cantillan, Toracan, Tandag, Tago, Hubo-Oteiza, Hinatuan, and Bisig.
-Agusan del Norte rivers and its tributaries particularly Lake-Mainit-Tubay, Asiga, Agusan, Linugos, and Cabadbaran.
-Agusan del Sur rivers and its tributaries particularly Ojot, Wawa, Libang, Maosam, Kasilan, Gibong, Adgaoan, Sinulao, Kayonan, and Andanan.
