TD Queenie bashes Palawan next before heading out of PAR

Tropical Depression Queenie, still packing 55-kilometers-per-hour strong near-center winds, heads toward northern Palawan Thursday evening at a pace of 24 kph and brings moderate to heavy rain with it, PAGASA said.

Palawan including the Calamian Group of Islands, Cuyo Islands, Guimaras Island, Iloilo and Antique, are under Public Storm Warnigs Signal No. 1.  Storm signals elsewhere have been lowered or lifted.

State weather forecasters said in the 11:00 p.m. PAGASA bulletin that TD Queenie is expected to be 400 kilometers northwest of Puerto Princesa by Friday evening.

PAGASA said Queenie "will exit the western border of the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) in between 7 to 8 p.m." of Friday.

"Residents in low lying and mountainous areas of the provinces with PSWS#1 as well as those in the provinces of Romblon and Mindoro are alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides," state weather forecasters said.

They also said,  "fisherfolks and those with small seacrafts are advised not to venture out over the seaboards of Palawan and over the western seaboard of Visayas."  — ELR, GMA News
