On Thursday, the video game company released the first look trailer for the successor to the highly successful Nintendo Switch.

Switch 2 comes in an all black finish and a bigger size, with a kickstand at the back. It has backward compatibility, and can play both digital and physical games.

There will be exclusive titles for Switch 2, according to Nintendo's website, but it warned that certain Switch games may not be supported on or fully compatible with the new console.

Further details will be shared at a later date. Nintendo will give a closer look at the Switch 2 at a Nintendo Direct presentation on April 2.

The first Nintendo Switch was released in 2017. In late 2024, Nintendo reported that the Switch had sold over 146 million units.

Popular games exclusive to the Switch include "Animal Crossing: New Horizons," "Super Mario Odyssey," "Fire Emblem: Three Houses," "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild," and "The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom," among many others.
