Taguig students develop all-in-one device for gathering vital signs
A group of Grade 11 students in Taguig City has developed an all-in-one device that can collect a patient's vital signs.
Martin Javier reported in ''24 Oras'' on Friday that the Taguig Robotics Team's Project SAFEST, or Systematic Assessment Of Full Essential Signs Technology, includes a height sensor, a weight sensor, a sensor to check heart rate and blood oxygen levels, and a SIM module to send the data to the patient via text message.
The device also has the ability to automatically gather and store data in an Excel file for periodic review and monitoring by a patient.
“’Yung plan po namin is to make it as portable as possible, pero it can't be too light to the point na hindi na siya stable. Each sensor has its own calibrations, so it has to be in a specific formula so that accurate lahat ng test niya,” said James Isagon, one of the developers.

In July, the innovation landed first runner-up at the Summer Robot Games International Open Youth Robotics Convention. — Jiselle Anne Casucian/VBL, GMA Integrated News
