TikTok launches Whee, a new social media app for photo sharing

TikTok launches Whee, a new social media app for photo sharing

A new social media app is here, and it aims to be a place where you can be "your most authentic self."

Check out Whee, a a new photo-sharing social media app produced by the same developers of TikTok. It quietly launched on Google Play and the App Store this month.

According to the app's description on Google Play, the new social media platform was created "to keep you connected with your close friends through life's spontaneous moments."

Contrary to TikTok, where anyone can see your posts through the For You Page, Whee only allows your friends on the app to see and engage with your posts.

GMA News Online gave Whee a quick try, and here's what we discovered:

1. Photos only

Whee allows you to post photos taken through the app or from your phone's camera roll. Similar to Instagram, it also has in-app photo filters that users can choose from to improve the quality of their photos.

As of writing, Whee doesn't allow videos.

2. No captions needed

When you post a photo on Whee, there's no need for any captions. There's no option for it. However, your friends on the app can react to your posts and leave their comments.

3. It's not available worldwide… for now.

As of writing, Whee is available to download in the Philippines on Google Play for Android users and the App Store for iPhone users. The app has yet to be available worldwide, including in the United States.

So are you going to give Whee a try?
