Pinoy fighting game 'Bayani' now has free demo; Early Access to follow on June 12
Pinoy-made fighting game "Bayani: Kanino Ka Kakampi?" now has a free demo downloadable from its official website. The Early Access version of the game will also be available via Steam on June 12, 2019.
Developed by Philippine-based studio Ranida Games, "Bayani" is a 2D fighting game for the PC.
It features 3D graphics that bring to life characters and locations inspired by Philippine history, culture, and mythology. Its fighters are alternate timeline versions of real historical figures such as José Rizal, Antonio Luna, and Gregoria de Jesús, while its stages are based on real locations such as the Rizal Monument and Calle Crisologo in Vigan City.
Feedback from professional fighting game players such as Ryan "Filipino Champ" Ramirez and the local fighting game community have helped shape "Bayani."
Ranida Games states that while the game is meant to be accessible to larger audiences, its depth and complexity will also please hardcore and competitive gamers.
Free demo and Early Access
The free demo available on the website will let you play with 2 characters, and comes with 1 stage and 1 music track. It features keyboard and controller support.
Ranida Games hopes to receive feedback so that they can further improve the game.
The "Bayani" June 12 Early Access release is a more polished version of the game. It will initially include four stages, three game modes (versus, arcade, and training), eight original background music tracks, and the following four characters
- Joe (José Rizal)
- Tonio (Antonio Luna)
- Leon (Emilio Aguinaldo)
- Oria (Gregoria de Jesús)
The Early Access version of "Bayani" will cost P399.95 for Filipino buyers, and $15.99 for US buyers.
Once the game becomes officially released, everyone who purchased the "Bayani" Early Access version will be entitled to the complete game at no extra cost.
These buyers can expect to receive all additional content, including the full roster of nine fighters, story mode, and all the stages, costumes, and background music, via free updates.
Upon the game's completion, Japan's EXA Arcadia will also publish an arcade box version of the game. In addition, Ranida Games has plans to release "Bayani" on console systems and mobile devices in the future.
