Eleksyon 2019: GMA News Online's MyKodigo allows users to create own sample ballots
With Eleksyon 2019 coming up, GMA News is making it easier for voters to plan out their choices to adhere to our "Pusuan Ang Totoo" advocacy.
The MyKodigo app on the Eleksyon 2019 website on GMA News Online allows users to create sample ballots that they can print out and bring to their respective voting precincts on election day, May 13, 2019.
Users can fill up digital versions of actual ballots on the site by clicking on the names of their chosen candidates.
Once they are done, they can print out a simple form that lists the names of their preferred candidates.
Depending on the number of candidates in their district, the kodigo can be printed using one to two pages of 8.5” x 11” paper.
GMA New Media Inc., the network's technology arm focusing on convergent applications for mobile, web, and digital TV, developed the app according to Comelec guidelines
Michaela Agcaoili, Senior Vice President for Web and Mobile Operations of NMI, noted that mobile phones are not allowed inside polling precincts on election day. Thus, having a printout of one's chosen political bets can simplify the voting process.
"Voters are not allowed to bring cellphones into polling precincts, so our idea was that ahead of time, you should be able to select the candidates you'd like to vote. On that day, you could have your list printed out, which you could use to vote on the actual ballot," Agcaoili said.
The My Kodigo tool is part of GMA Network's effort to support voters at every step of the voting process: from choosing candidates to monitoring results.
Responses or results generated by this service are not saved or used by Comelec or GMA in any way.
Viewers can check the latest stories and video on candidates and campaigns on the Eleksyon 2019 website, as well as profiles of each senatorial candidate, video and reports from Debate 2019, and demographic data on the electorate for the upcoming polls. —JST, GMA News
