Player.me content creation desktop app unveiled by SplitmediaLabs

SplitmediaLabs, the developer of live streaming and recording software XSplit, has announced its new community-driven content creation tool, the Player.me desktop app.

The new platform allows content creators to make recordings and live streams, as well as manage their streaming presence across YouTube, Twitch, Facebook, Beam, Hitbox, and a number of other platforms.

Equipped with community management tools, the Player.me desktop app also lets users connect to various services, including Facebook, Twitter, Steam, and Discord. This in turn grants them the opportunity to cultivate their audience and gaming network by exhibiting videos, streams, and more.

“Becoming a content creator is not easy, first you have to know how to create the content and then you need to make it look good so it can appeal to an audience. Then, once you’ve made the commitment, both in time and money, it can be even harder to get discovered,” explained co-founder and Chief Product Officer of Player.me, Sean Fee. “By leveraging XSplit’s experience we’ve managed to shape the Player.me app into a product that can tackle the major issues content creators face today.”

The app will launch with a range of features, such as an overlay editor and numerous customizable readymade overlays.

Player.me combines Strexm’s overlay integration with XSplits broadcast technology to facilitate the creation of professional-looking broadcasts. Content creators also have the option of using the app’s built-in recording and streaming feature. Alternatively, they can still use OBS or XSplit without having to worry about missing out on Player.me’s new features.

The Player.me app allows users to connect with and follow fellow content creators, as well as find new creators who share their specific interests.

“We want to bring the gaming community together by giving them the tools they need to create great content, share that content with their friends and create and engage with communities around the games they love,” stated Fee.

In its bid to develop a platform with the ability to connect gaming enthusiasts with their desired content, SplitmediaLabs acquired Player.me in July, 2016.

The Player.me app will be demoed at PAX East, XSplit booth #11061. Those interested in trying it out can sign up here,  then request beta access.
