Commander Stukov and more coming to StarCraft II

“StarCraft II” is getting a host of updates, which were revealed at BlizzCon 2016.

New commander, Alexei Stukov

Firstly, a new commander is making his way to the game’s cooperative mode: Alexei Stukov.

Once a human vice admiral, Stukov was betrayed, killed, and then infested to become a Zerg. As a commander in “StarCraft II,” he commands units and structures that reflect his duality. His buildings, troops, aircraft, and tanks sport ghastly growths such as tentacles and throbbing pustules. Some of them can spew corrosive substances, while others have the ability to infect enemies.

Two new maps for cooperative play

Two new cooperative maps will also soon be available for “StarCraft II.”

The first, Miner Evacuation, tasks you with evacuating miners before the planet they’re stranded on gets overrun by Zerg. Part of your objective is to defend a number of escape shuttles so that the miners can board them.

The second is called Dead of Night. This is an overhaul of the 2011 map, Left2Die. Like the original, Dead of Night will feature monstrous mutants and a day-night cycle.

The conclusion to Nova Covert Ops trilogy

The third and last Mission Pack for Nova Covert Ops will be released this November 22 alongside a new comic. The episode takes place not long after the events in “StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void.”

War Chest

Blizzard is launching the War Chest special bundle, which awards you with unique content the more you play “StarCraft II.”

Every year will have two War Chest seasons, with each season offering exclusive content. Most of the content will be cosmetic, such as faction skins. Each season will also come with digital comics.
