New peripherals for PlayStation 4 announced by Sony
If you think the PlayStation 4 Pro is the only new piece of equipment coming from Sony, think again; the company just announced that a new DualShock 4 Wireless Controller, PlayStation Camera, and vertical stand for the slimmer PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro will be available in the Philippines this holiday season.
The DualShock 4 Wireless Controller comes with a variety of new features. It permits the light bar’s light to show through the touch pad as a luminous line. This means players will no longer have to turn the controller over to receive visual information about their character, health status, and more. In addition to the standard Bluetooth communication, the new controller also supports USB communication, allowing players to control it via cable.
The device will come in three colors. Starting September 24, 2016, the jet black DualShock 4 Wireless Controller will be available for P2,495. The magma red and wave blue variations will sell for the same price, and will arrive in November of the same year.
New PlayStation Camera
The PlayStation Camera has gotten an overhaul. The new version comes with all the original’s features. It boasts PlayStation VR support and also now has a more compact cylindrical shape. The updated device includes a stand that should allow users to adjust its angle and choose its location—they can have it sit on top of their television, for example—with ease.
Starting October 2016, the new PlayStation Camera will be available for P2,990.
Vertical stand
The new vertical stand is designed specifically as a mount for the PlayStation 4 Pro and the slimmer PlayStation 4. Because of its translucent material, the stand resembles the shadow of the vertically upright console. The stand comes with two different types of attachment, allowing users to mount either the PlayStation 4 Pro or slimmer PlayStation 4.
Starting October 2016, the vertical stand will be available for P1,399.
More on the horizon
Aside from the peripherals and two updated systems, Sony will be delivering more goods to fans of the PlayStation 4.
Coming soon to the console is an exciting line-up of new games that includes Final Fantasy XV, Mass Effect: Andromeda, Gravity Rush 2, Horizon: Zero Dawn, Ryu Ga Gotoku 6 Inochi no Uta, The Last Guardian, and Thumper.
Furthermore, Sony will be offering two bundle packs, each including the slim PlayStation 4 and a game. The first is the PlayStation 4 NBA 2K17 bundle pack priced at P18,990. The second is the PlayStation 4 Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare bundle pack priced at P20,490.
Also, owners of the standard PlayStation 4 who are afraid of missing out on the HDR goodness offered by the new PlayStation 4 Pro have nothing to worry about; the standard PlayStation 4 model will receive an HDR update next week.
All versions of the PlayStation 4 will support all games made for the systems.
“Today marks an exciting new milestone for PlayStation as we unveiled the high-end PS4 Pro in the midst of the console lifecycle, catering to gamers who are looking for a heightened PS4 experience,” stated Andrew House, president and Global CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, at PlayStation Meeting 2016. “By accelerating the innovation cadence at PlayStation, we’re introducing choice in the marketplace, enabling gamers to choose the PS4 model that meets their needs. Ultimately, with titles that leverage the potential of PS4 Pro—plus PlayStation VR launching soon—all PS4 owners continue to benefit from having the best place to play.” — BM, GMA News
