‘Batman: Return to Arkham’ will be released in October

After“Batman: Return to Arkham” was announced last May and then its release delayed, Warner Bros. Games, DC Entertainment, and Rocksteady Studios have officially released a new comparison video for the upcoming high-definition re-release of the first two Batman Arkham games coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Originally released on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, and Mac OSX, the first two Batman Arkham games introduced players to what was called the “definite Batman experience,” with players actually controlling and guiding the Caped Crusader through a series of adventures that utilized elements of action, puzzle solving, and near open-world exploration.

Released in 2009, "Batman: Arkham Asylum" sees Batman successfully apprehending his archnemesis The Joker and sending him to the titular house for the criminally insane, only for the Clown Prince of Crime to take over the entire establishment. A sequel, "Batman: Arkham City," followed in 2011, expanding the game and enclosing decaying portions of Gotham City in a new super-prison in the aftermath of the first game’s events.

As seen in the official Batman Arkham Facebook page, the new comparison video showcases the new improvements and updates the developers have done to port the first two Arkham games to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in HD. Using the Unreal 4 Engine, there’s a slight and significant bump in detail to the texture and graphics of both games. However, it’s also evident that the shadows and contrast have become a bit darker. Time will tell how the final product will look once the game launches to the general public and allows fans to revisit The Bat’s early adventures before the events of "Batman: Arkham Knight."
