Google joins Philippine Independence Day celebrations with jeepney doodle

Google joined Filipinos in celebrating the 118th Philippine Independence Day with a jeepney doodle.

The iconic jeepney leads to a search result page on the Philippine Independence Day, which is observed June 12th of every year to commemorate the country's declaration of independence from Spain in 1898.

The search results page show a Wikipedia entry on Independence Day and latest news stories about this year's commemoration.

President Benigno Aquino III on Sunday morning signalled the start of the Independence Day celebrations with a wreath-laying ceremony in Rizal Park (formerly Luneta) in Manila.
