Actress Myrtle Sarrosa implores NBI to hunt down hackers

Actress and cosplayer Myrtle Sarrosa sought the help of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to track down the hackers who broke into her social media accounts last Saturday.

In a report by John Consulta on Balitanghali, Sarrosa said her Facebook account was hacked at around 7 a.m. last May 14. At around 10 a.m. the same day, the hacker supposedly started posting malicious status updates and links.

“May mga sexual connotations, may mga kabastusan na included sa bawat posts,” Sarrosa said.

But the actress was even more alarmed by the fact that her Facebook account is linked to the same email address she uses for bank accounts and online stock trading.

Sarrosa claimed she has no idea how the hackers got ahold of her password.

Meanwhile, the NBI's Cybercrime Division suspects that Sarrosa may have been a victim of malware. She may have inadvertently clicked on a seemingly innocent link that enabled the hackers to bypass her account security.

Investigators said that the hackers may still be planning to breach Sarrosa’s bank accounts.

“Think before you click. When it is too good to be true, it is not true. And at the same time huwag mo naman ishare lahat ng circumstances mo over the internet,” Lorenzo said.

Meanwhile, Cybercrime Division Executive Officer Vic Lorenzo warned the public not to click anything in the emails sent by suspicious senders.

The Cybercrime Division said they already have a lead on the hacker, but declined to elaborate. — Kiersnerr Gerwin Tacadena/TJD, GMA News
