Assassin's Creed maker opening game dev studio in Laguna
Ubisoft, the game developer that gave life to popular game series like Assassin’s Creed, is establishing its 30th game development studio in the Philippines.
The newly-unveiled game studio will be based in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.
In a post on the company's blog, Ubisoft Philippines’ studio manager Chip Go said they have big ambitions for the new Ubisoft team in the country which will be comprised of Filipino talents.
“Ubisoft Philippines will be recruiting 50 new team members this year, from artists to programmers, designers to project managers, and we are very confident of our ability to build a strong team to take up these challenges,” Go said.
Go was originally from Ubisoft's studio in Singapore, where the game developer was able to see the talent of Filipino developers.
In a separate report on Venture Beat, director of Ubisoft Philippines Oliver de Rotalier said they want to expose Filipino devs to high-level game development.
De Rotalier said they are planning to develop a local talent pool in the country with a partnership will De La Salle University.
“We’ll be crafting the right curriculum, helping students and projects, to quickly grown the next generation of game developers — fits market in Philippines, and that’s why we consider contributing to the ecosystem as important,” de Rotalier said.
